Taking Care of Your Pet

Most kids love having a cat or dog at home. Parents are reluctant to get a pet as they are concerned about the safety of their children. Most breeds of cats and dogs that you can have in your home don't cause any harm to kids. However, it is important that you take certain precautions when you get these pets in your home.
When you get a pet in your home, it is important that you teach your child how to respect the animal. Some kids have the habit of pulling the tail of the pet or hitting it with the ball. This will only make the pet resentful and they will not like playing with your kid. You must work with your kid and teach them how to handle the pet.
If you are planning to get a dog, then it is important that you check the breed of the dog and its behaviour pattern. Breeds like Great Danes, Bernards, Poodles, Mastiffs, German Shepherds and Labrador are known to be good with kids. It is important that you train the dog to socialize. If the dog is trained they are less likely to be aggressive and will make wonderful pets.
If you are planning to get a cat then training the cat is likely to be difficult. Some cats have the tendency to bite children when they pull their ears or tail. When cats bite it is their way of showing that they don't like what is happening to them and are angry. Cats have the tendency to choose their owner and prefer people who are kind to them.
